My older sister suggested drawing a cartoon about ICE. At first I couldn’t think of anything I wanted to draw (plus it’s a pretty depressing topic). Then she told me about a small town where local law enforcement officers signed up to work with ICE…

Graphic novelist K. Woodman-Maynard has asked cartoonists to “tell your stories about ICE in your towns and cities.” This was not something I was going to participate in. One, I live in a well-to-do town that’s 95% White, where there’s no ICE action. Two, I don’t do serious graphic novelist stuff, all I can do is goofy cartoons. But then I heard about an even smaller, Whiter town than my town, where the local cops signed on to do double duty as ICE agents. That’s just goofy enough for the kind of cartoons I can draw.
Woodman-Maynard wanted cartoonists to post their cartoons on Instacrap, but I HATE all Meta products. Not gonna post on Instacrap. And she wanted cartoonists to use HEX 6cc1e6 blue. Not gonna do that either — it takes me so darned long to draw anything, I’m not adding any extra steps. Finally, she wanted a hash tag that says “iceout” plus the name of your city or town. OK, that last one I can do:

I love it! Perfect!
I think your distance from my wee town afforded the perfect angle.
Well done! ?
