“Palin pardon amid turkey butchery”

…is the headline of this BBC news story. I think the Brits obsess on Sarah Palin because she’s got the same last name as Michael Palin of Monty Python fame, and having two adbsurdist public figures (one intentionally absurd, the other not) is too good a coincidence for them to waste. Speaking of absurd, click the link above to see a photo of Sarah Palin smiling vapidly while behind her stands a man holding a bloody turkey carcass. There’s something almost metaphorical about that image… if I could just figure out the metaphor….

I’m not sure what the metaphor is either — but to have a sitting governor say “that was neat” while there are newly dead and very bloody bird bodies in the background? Man. There must be something to do with that one…

Well..I may be too sarcastic..but wouldn’t the metaphor be someting like some are chosen and forgiven whilst others meet the fate of the damned.

ogre @ 1 — I couldn’t have said it better myself. Actually, I don’t think I could have said that at all.

cindy @ 2 — I’m voting for Michael Palin in 2012. So what if he’s a British citizen.

Jean @ 3 — She also shoots wolves from an airplane, and calls it “sport.”

deb @ 4 — Oo, I like that. Esp. since only one was chosen and forgiven. Very apt for Sarah Palin.

I can’t believe I’m getting so snarky about Sarah Palin. I’m sure she’s a fine woman, but she seems so intellectually uncurious, so unquestioningly sure of herself and all her beliefs, so convinced that she’s going to heaven (whatever she means by that) while the rest of us are going to hell. People like her really rub me the wrong way.
