{"id":1531,"date":"2012-02-13T23:39:35","date_gmt":"2012-02-14T04:39:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielharper.org\/yauu\/?p=1531"},"modified":"2025-08-17T12:59:43","modified_gmt":"2025-08-17T16:59:43","slug":"quaker-checkers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.danielharper.org\/yauu\/2012\/02\/quaker-checkers\/","title":{"rendered":"Quaker Checkers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Update, 17 August 2025:<\/strong> See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.danielharper.org\/yauu\/2025\/08\/quaker-checkers-revisited\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"12344\">this post<\/a> for the same game, but revised in accordance with the original intent of the game&#8217;s creator..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back in 1985, the Unitarian Universalist Peace Network published a Sunday school curriculum called &#8220;Peace Experiments.&#8221; One of the things I liked best in this old curriculum was a board game called &#8220;Quaker Checkers.&#8221; It&#8217;s simple, fun, and challenging enough to be worth playing more than once. But I can find no reference to this game on the Web, except as a listing in a manuscript archive in the Swarthmore College library.
