\nis inside every cairn.

ready to guide you,
\npatron god of travellers.
\nBut I’m suspicious:<\/p>\n
he’s mischievous, too,
\nthe trickster god. If fog comes
\nand you leave the path,<\/p>\n
or if your map proves
\nto be utterly wrong, if
\nyou somehow get lost:<\/p>\n
you should blame Hermes.
\nOr thank him. For all you know,
\nyou’re better off lost.<\/p>\n

\nWhen you come to die,
\nthat’s when Hermes shows up next.
\nWith his magic wand<\/p>\n
he touches your eyes.
\nNext thing you know, there’s Charon
\ndemanding his fare.<\/p>\n
You spit out the coin
\nthey left on your tongue, so you
\ncan plead with him; but<\/p>\n
he’s already gone.
\nWinged sandals are fast. You’re stuck
