{"id":638,"date":"2006-09-29T21:21:46","date_gmt":"2006-09-30T01:21:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.danielharper.org\/blog\/?p=638"},"modified":"2010-03-25T16:43:41","modified_gmt":"2010-03-25T23:43:41","slug":"this-just-in-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.danielharper.org\/blog\/?p=638","title":{"rendered":"This just in&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This just in from the folks at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.massequality.org\/\">Mass Equality<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This morning, Massachusetts Superior Court Judge Thomas Connolly ruled that same-sex couples from Rhode Island can marry in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that a 1913 law used to stop same-sex couples from outside Massachusetts marrying here could be applied only if a couple&#8217;s home state expressly forbids same-sex marriage. While most states do expressly forbid same-sex couples from marrying, Judge Connolly ruled today that nothing in Rhode Island law &#8220;explicitly deems void or otherwise expressly forbids same-sex marriage.&#8221; With this ruling, Rhode Island couples can now marry in Massachusetts&#8230;.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Which is very good news indeed.<\/p>\n<p>For more info, visist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glad.org\/News_Room\/press124-09-29-06.html\">GLAD&#8217;s news room<\/a>.
