We asked the man behind the counter how big a crab to get, and he said, &#8220;Sounds like you haven&#8217;t bought a crab before.&#8221; We said we had just moved from the Massachusetts coast. &#8220;Oh yeah, lobster and all that,&#8221; he said. He picked out a crab, cracked the legs, and wrapped it up for us. We took it home and ate it right away&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielharper.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/BlogJan2310.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.danielharper.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/BlogJan2310-198x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Eating Dungeness crab\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.danielharper.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/BlogJan2310-198x300.jpg 198w, https:\/\/www.danielharper.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/BlogJan2310.jpg 265w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 198px) 100vw, 198px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Carol had never had Dungeness crab before; I&#8217;d only had it once in a restaurant. We ate the whole crab in one sitting.
