Text Worship

Both for accessibility and for convenience, key elements of worship services can be distributed in text. For example, sermons can be delivered in a face-to-face worship service, and then later distributed on a sermon blog. In this example, a sermon blog can provide accessibility for deaf and shut-in persons, as well as allowing a conversation to develop in comments left on the blog.

Sermon blogs

First Unitarian in New Bedford places all sermons delivered by their minister on a blog (new as of January 7, 2007). The blog is a full-featured blog, and includes RSS syndication, full commenting ability, search function, and categories. Sermons are posted at 11:00 a.m. on the Sunday morning they are preached. http://www.uunewbedford.org/sermon/

Web-based sermon archives

Web-based sermon archives are less interesting from a Church 2.- point of view, because they do not allow user-generated content.

However, the online sermon archive at the Follen Church Society (Lexington, MA), Web site is noteable because it does have a syndicated feed available, so you can subscribe to the sermons. http://follen.org/?q=taxonomy/term/34/0
